Aloe Vera is a green succulent plant that looks rather like a type of cactus. Aloe Vera has been found growing naturally in the Caribbean, North Africa and in the southern part of the United States and can be purchased as a house plant in many parts of the world.

The liquid derived from the plant has many uses and, as an additive or by itself, it is has been used to treat burns, including sunburn, and as a moisturizer for dry skin. The Aloe Vera plant has also been shown to have some anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties so it has been known to be used in the treatment of cuts, bruises, and even Athlete’s foot. Aloe Vera can be taken orally and has been shown to help with gastrointestinal disorders along with bloating and constipation.
